Family oriented friendly staff. Andres is continuing Zane and Michelle's excellent program. The workout and drills will tire you out and the techniques will help keep you safe and confident.

I recently moved to Albuquerque and have been looking to start taking self defense classes. I found AMMA online and decided to give them a try based on the excellent reviews. After my first class, I left feeling way more knowledgeable and prepared to defend myself.

★★★★★ — Grace, Sep 2023

We have our son enrolled in the kids jiu jitsu classes and he absolutely loves them. Sensei Zane and Sensei Daniel are both great with the kids! They manage to fit teaching the kids jiu jitsu and respect for themselves and for others into every 50 minute class.

★★★★★ — Catherine, Sep 2018

By far the best "real-world" martial arts school hands down. Period! I participate in FMA (Filipino Martial Arts) and with two artificial knees it is perfect for me. What is more important to me is the "atmosphere" of the school. I'm 61 years old and all the instructors (and fellow students) make it feel like family.

Your first Krav Maga class at Albuquerque Modern Martial Arts

Nervous about walking into a Krav Maga school for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good instructors expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling a few core techniques with a partner — controlled and at your own pace, not hard sparring. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: comfortable athletic clothes you can move in — there's no uniform or special gear you need to buy to get started. What to bring: water and a mouthguard if you have one — most schools have everything else you'll need for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call what to bring. Pressure-testing eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid — you won't be sparring hard on day one. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and meet the instructor. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.

Krav Maga is a contact activity. Ease in, train at your own pace, listen to your instructors, and if you have any injuries or health concerns, mention them before class and check with a doctor if you're unsure.
