I was looking for a place that had trial classes, since I’ve never done self-defense before. This location makes it really easy to get started, offering two free trial classes and a good deal when you sign up, so it doesn’t feel like too much of a commitment starting off.

★★★★★ — Sadie, Jun 2023

I’ve been to a bunch of martial arts studios over the years and this is by far my favorite. I signed up for a trial classes and have been almost every day since. The instructors are amazing. They are so incredibly knowledgeable, approachable, and kind.

Attended the women's self defense class and it was great!! Cady and Joe took great pride in teaching us how to defend ourselves, and all the techniques were practical and efficient. You can really see the sense of community that they are trying to cultivate. Super friendly people!

Your first Krav Maga class at Combat Krav Maga SF

Nervous about walking into a Krav Maga school for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good instructors expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling a few core techniques with a partner — controlled and at your own pace, not hard sparring. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: comfortable athletic clothes you can move in — there's no uniform or special gear you need to buy to get started. What to bring: water and a mouthguard if you have one — most schools have everything else you'll need for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call what to bring. Pressure-testing eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid — you won't be sparring hard on day one. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and meet the instructor. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.

Krav Maga is a contact activity. Ease in, train at your own pace, listen to your instructors, and if you have any injuries or health concerns, mention them before class and check with a doctor if you're unsure.
