We visited several martial arts studios in Edmond and really liked EMAA. As a parent, I want my children to understand what respect and discipline are and how to defend themselves while building confidence. I also think that the instructor-student relationship is very important in succeeding.
Edmond Martial Arts Academy is wonderful!! Although it didn't work out for my daughter because of some disability issues she has, Kamey and Coach Tarver were fantastic with helping my daughter out so she could decide if Taekwondo was a good fit for her.
The staff genuinely cares about their students. They take the time to motivate and encourage them beyond class. Since starting at EMAA I have noticed a significant difference in the behavior of my nephew. We are grateful for the time and attention given to the whole family.
I have a 4yr old and the instructor and assistants are amazing with teaching the kids class! They even have parents night out days and can accommodate a birthday party which is super cool!
Your first Krav Maga class at Edmond Martial Arts Academy
Nervous about walking into a Krav Maga school for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good instructors expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling a few core techniques with a partner — controlled and at your own pace, not hard sparring. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: comfortable athletic clothes you can move in — there's no uniform or special gear you need to buy to get started. What to bring: water and a mouthguard if you have one — most schools have everything else you'll need for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call what to bring. Pressure-testing eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid — you won't be sparring hard on day one. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and meet the instructor. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
