From the reviews

Great place! The staff and owners create a great environment for kids to learn. More than just self defense, my kid is learning discipline, motivation, self esteem, etc. Since joining, we’ve seen our daughter be less shy, speak up for herself, be more independent and assertive.

We started as guests to a birthday party here June 2024, and they offer every kid a free week to come check it out. My son fell in love. Not only do they teach self defense and how to protect themselves, they also teach how to get away from predators which unfortunately is needed in this world now a days.

★★★★★ — Jessica, Dec 2024

We've been so impressed by the Tiny Champs program for ages 4-7. With my son starting at age 4, I was nervous about the age range at first, but it's been great to see how the little ones look up to the bigger kids, and this mentality is fostered and reinforced effectively by Ms. Anne.

★★★★★ — Lindsay, Dec 2025

If you want to enroll your child in a martial arts program in the West Chester area, I wouldn't consider another place than Kirk's. Classes are small, instructors are incredibly knowledgeable, and they know how to work with kids of all ages. Ernie and Anne Kirk take the time to get to know your child and your family.

Your first Krav Maga class at Kirk's Martial Arts & Krav Maga

Nervous about walking into a Krav Maga school for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good instructors expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling a few core techniques with a partner — controlled and at your own pace, not hard sparring. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: comfortable athletic clothes you can move in — there's no uniform or special gear you need to buy to get started. What to bring: water and a mouthguard if you have one — most schools have everything else you'll need for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call what to bring. Pressure-testing eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid — you won't be sparring hard on day one. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and meet the instructor. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.

Krav Maga is a contact activity. Ease in, train at your own pace, listen to your instructors, and if you have any injuries or health concerns, mention them before class and check with a doctor if you're unsure.
