Just had a birthday party here. Such a fun environment. Even before the instructor came out for activities and a short lesson, the kids had so much fun running around, punching the pads and bags. Everything’s padded so they’re safe. When sensei Josh came out for a lesson it was even better. The kids got so into it.
Training with Sensei Josh at Madras Martial Arts has been life-changing for my son. He has learned a whole new level of confidence and respect, which has had a positive impact on our family as a whole.
Sensei Josh is an amazing instructor! My son has been learning under him for a couple years and absolutely loves it. The experience has helped him in school, and life in general. We will keep him at Madras Martial Arts for as long as we possibly can.
Our family loves Madras Martial Arts! The owners are terrific! A very welcoming, family atmosphere. Walked in feeling awkward, left feeling confident and excited for the next class.
Your first Krav Maga class at Madras Martial Arts
Nervous about walking into a Krav Maga school for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good instructors expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling a few core techniques with a partner — controlled and at your own pace, not hard sparring. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: comfortable athletic clothes you can move in — there's no uniform or special gear you need to buy to get started. What to bring: water and a mouthguard if you have one — most schools have everything else you'll need for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call what to bring. Pressure-testing eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid — you won't be sparring hard on day one. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and meet the instructor. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
