From the reviews
This was something I wanted to take many years ago, I finally had the time and went for the trial class. What’s great is that l got to see what I’m actually signing up for beforehand. It was hard at first but I wanted to learn these everyday scenarios that you may come across in this day and age.
It was my first time taking a self defense course and I couldn’t have been more pleased. Avi and Riki are pros and can teach you the basics in just a few classes. I didn’t have any previous training, but I was able to learn critical techinques just after the second class! Avi and Riki are both great instructors.

After researching the Web for a Krav Maga School close to home, I came across New York Self Defense Academy. It's been a year and 2 months since I started on this journey and I have to say that I have only good things to say about it. I have learned many simple effective techniques to defend myself.
Your first Krav Maga class at New York Self Defense Academy - Active Krav Maga
Nervous about walking into a Krav Maga school for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good instructors expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling a few core techniques with a partner — controlled and at your own pace, not hard sparring. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: comfortable athletic clothes you can move in — there's no uniform or special gear you need to buy to get started. What to bring: water and a mouthguard if you have one — most schools have everything else you'll need for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call what to bring. Pressure-testing eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid — you won't be sparring hard on day one. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and meet the instructor. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
