Started off with my daughter taking classes then my husband joined the Krav class and I started the kickboxing. Everyone we've met parents, and instructors have all been so nice. The instructors are also awesome at talking to my 4 year old when she's not having a good day and has little tantrums.

★★★★★ — Brittney, May 2024

Our twin boys have learned how to actively listen and pay more attention from attending classes at ATA Dothan. The level of professionalism is great and the small class setting provides time for more concentrated teaching! Karate gives our boys a healthy method to compete and learn self defense.

Your first Krav Maga class at Peak Martial Arts

Nervous about walking into a Krav Maga school for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good instructors expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling a few core techniques with a partner — controlled and at your own pace, not hard sparring. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: comfortable athletic clothes you can move in — there's no uniform or special gear you need to buy to get started. What to bring: water and a mouthguard if you have one — most schools have everything else you'll need for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call what to bring. Pressure-testing eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid — you won't be sparring hard on day one. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and meet the instructor. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.

Krav Maga is a contact activity. Ease in, train at your own pace, listen to your instructors, and if you have any injuries or health concerns, mention them before class and check with a doctor if you're unsure.
