What students say
From the reviews
Every once in a while you meet a working professional who is truly and deeply passionate about their profession, Shawn is one of these individuals. I have been training with Shawn for a year now, and he has an amazing attention to detail, body mechanics, and technique. He always keeps class fresh, dynamic, and moving.
I am a student in the Krav Maga classes and also took the recent Knife Combatives Seminar. Both experiences are incredible. Sean has a wealth of knowledge in all aspects of self-defense as well as having a traditional martial-arts background.
Shawn is a very knowledgable instructor. I've been around martial arts for a long time. He really knows a lot more than just Krav Maga. He's very passionate. He's been teaching me with very detailed and patient instruction. Everyone that I have interacted with there is very nice and helpful.
Your first Krav Maga class at Reno Krav Maga
Nervous about walking into a Krav Maga school for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good instructors expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling a few core techniques with a partner — controlled and at your own pace, not hard sparring. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: comfortable athletic clothes you can move in — there's no uniform or special gear you need to buy to get started. What to bring: water and a mouthguard if you have one — most schools have everything else you'll need for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call what to bring. Pressure-testing eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid — you won't be sparring hard on day one. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and meet the instructor. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
