From the reviews

JJ has a wide range of experience in different martial arts, he's patient with both kids and adult students. By far some of the best coaching I've ever personally experienced. My daughter is thriving under his instruction. It's a comfortable setting for new and experienced practitioners.

My family loves The Forge! My kids are getting so much from their time here. They are making good progress in their martial arts, creating bonds with the staff and students alike, developing discipline and self respect. They are getting to be a part of something bigger than themselves and it shows.

JJ is knowledgable, approachable, and accommodating. We had a moms self defense class with our kiddos at The Forge. He provided tailored training for a variety of scenarios, including ways to protect our little ones. He’s a great asset to the community and would highly recommend his classes!

Your first Krav Maga class at The Forge Martial Arts

Nervous about walking into a Krav Maga school for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good instructors expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling a few core techniques with a partner — controlled and at your own pace, not hard sparring. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: comfortable athletic clothes you can move in — there's no uniform or special gear you need to buy to get started. What to bring: water and a mouthguard if you have one — most schools have everything else you'll need for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call what to bring. Pressure-testing eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid — you won't be sparring hard on day one. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and meet the instructor. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.

Krav Maga is a contact activity. Ease in, train at your own pace, listen to your instructors, and if you have any injuries or health concerns, mention them before class and check with a doctor if you're unsure.
