From the reviews
In my opinion, the best Martial Arts school in East TN, and possibly the entire Southeast US. Danny teaches all age groups from kids to adults. This is not just another karate school. It is family owned and operated.
I highly recommend Mr. Danny. My son and I have trained with Danny for several years and I can honestly say that if it were not for Danny, I would have never stepped on the mat. Mr. Danny is one of the most dedicated, honest, and genuine people I have ever known.
A fantastic place!! My journey with DVMA started in January 2023. We had recently moved to the area and I was looking to continue martial arts with my son. When we walked in we were given free T-shirts and the opportunity to explore a handful of free trial classes.
As an active-duty Army service member, I've had the opportunity to train with some outstanding instructors throughout my career, including doing classes at West Point and the Pentagon.
Your first Krav Maga class at DV Martial Arts
Nervous about walking into a Krav Maga school for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good instructors expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling a few core techniques with a partner — controlled and at your own pace, not hard sparring. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: comfortable athletic clothes you can move in — there's no uniform or special gear you need to buy to get started. What to bring: water and a mouthguard if you have one — most schools have everything else you'll need for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call what to bring. Pressure-testing eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid — you won't be sparring hard on day one. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and meet the instructor. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
