As said by everyone else who has written a review...Gus is the Man! You can tell the second you shake his hand that he is a very focused and driven individual that is truly passionate about his work.
Been studying a few martial arts over the last 20+ years and Krav is absolutely the most practical. Eric and Gus have developed and deliver a curriculum that does what it promises — enabling you to feel fit, confident and protected — and more! Would definitely award more than five stars were I able to!
Chief Instructor Gus Bottazzi's Israeli Krav Maga is the premier Krav Maga facility I have found in the all of Westchester and Fairfield County. Gus has created a studio that provides the perfect blend of warmth and welcoming, yet serious, challenging, and to-the-point.
I have been involved in martial arts for practically my entire life. I have trained in various disciplines and find the curriculum at Gus' studio to be superior to any other. It is truly focused on "self-defense" and he focuses on what works for the individual as opposed to a rigid "kata" format.
Your first Krav Maga class at Israeli Krav Maga-CT
Nervous about walking into a Krav Maga school for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good instructors expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling a few core techniques with a partner — controlled and at your own pace, not hard sparring. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: comfortable athletic clothes you can move in — there's no uniform or special gear you need to buy to get started. What to bring: water and a mouthguard if you have one — most schools have everything else you'll need for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call what to bring. Pressure-testing eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid — you won't be sparring hard on day one. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and meet the instructor. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
