From the reviews

Vann Winn is an excellent instructor & brings the knowledge necessary for me to learn how to handle myself in an increasingly violent world. He teaches Combative principals that are useful to defend myself. In a violent altercation the training I am receiving will make me better when I am on duty, & in the field.

I love this class! Vann is very knowledgable in this area and he has various backgrounds/experience with this kind of stuff. Very professional. Him & the guys make the class very welcoming and they made sure that this was a safe place (being that I was one of the few women in the class). Everyone is very respectful.

★★★★★ — Saffy, Sep 2024

Comfortable setting and instructor gives clear explanations of the techniques. I look forward to the next class.

Vann is a great instructor. If self defense is your goal, RWKM is a great option for you!

Your first Krav Maga class at Reticent Warrior Krav Maga

Nervous about walking into a Krav Maga school for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good instructors expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling a few core techniques with a partner — controlled and at your own pace, not hard sparring. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: comfortable athletic clothes you can move in — there's no uniform or special gear you need to buy to get started. What to bring: water and a mouthguard if you have one — most schools have everything else you'll need for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call what to bring. Pressure-testing eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid — you won't be sparring hard on day one. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and meet the instructor. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.

Krav Maga is a contact activity. Ease in, train at your own pace, listen to your instructors, and if you have any injuries or health concerns, mention them before class and check with a doctor if you're unsure.
